Abstract
Single electron capture from Mg, Li, Na and K into 0.3-10 keV Ar2+ ions has been studied by means of translational energy spectroscopy with direct metastable on detection. In this way state-selective production of highly excited metastable Ar+ ions with absolute determination of the metastable ion beam fractions has been achieved.
