State selective electron capture cross sections: Protons in collisions with Sodium

Abstract

We have measured cascade-free σ ( np) relative cross sections for single electron capture by protons from a sodium jet, in the energy range of 50 to 200 keV. For 50 keV H + + Na → H ∗ (3l,l = 0,1,2) + Na we have also determined relative initial state populations using tht fast beam time of flight technique.
