Abstract

It has been almost two years since I wrote my first Seismological Research Letters ( SRL ) column, titled “Hello from the New Editor of SRL .” Being the editor-in-chief (EIC) of SRL is indeed time consuming, as others warned me, and I am still learning to be more efficient at handling manuscripts. I have not received any angry phone calls yet, but I did receive several angry emails from authors of rejected manuscripts and have even gotten a letter of complaint via snailmail. Beyond these little confrontations, my EIC experience has been very positive. It is especially rewarding when I meet people who have published in SRL and they thank me for the work we do, while I try to recall what was in that particular paper. I would like to take this opportunity to briefly summarize what we have achieved in the past two years but, more importantly, to outline possible changes that are expected to happen in the near future, as well as motivations behind these proposed changes.
