Abstract
This paper presents some considerations with regard to inexpensive fieldbus nodes which have led Philips Components to the concept of a fieldbus interface circuit. This concept makes it feasible that eventually layers 1, 2 and 7 of the communication protocol can be integrated together with layer 8, the user application, in one single IC.
