Abstract

An outline of research and development (R&D) projects to advanced materials under elevated-temperature conditions is reviewed. The paper describes a national research project on functionally gradient materials for relaxation of thermal stress and gives highlights of research concerning development of advanced materials for severe service applications. Included are composite materials, crystal structure controlled alloys and intermetallic compounds. Finally, a brief description of R&D projects on a ceramics gas turbine is given.
