Abstract

This paper hires a state-feedback (pole placement) control scheme to control the current charging of the Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion) battery. To render this idea, the Li-Ion battery and battery charger have been respectively modeled by a first order equivalent circuit, in order to derive the continues state space equations of the system. The simulation has been accomplished in MATLAB/Simulink environment to control the charging current on sinusoidal ripple current reference. The proposed state feedback controller has a simpler design and tuning procedures while provides a better reference tracking in comparison with the conventional PI as well as adaptive PI controllers.
