Abstract

The state estimation of single-phase full wave rectifier circuit using unscented Kalman filter (UKF) is presented in this paper. The state space model has been obtained using Kirchhoffs laws (KCL and KVL). UKF has been used to estimate the capacitor voltage and diode current through the circuit. The performance of UKF has been compared with extended Kalman filter (EKF). The simulation results show larger signal to noise ratio (SNR) using UKF as compared to EKF method. As the UKF uses unscented transformation (UT), whereas EKF uses Taylor series expansion for linearization of nonlinear model, UKF presents smaller linearization error as compared to EKF. Also, UKF avoids the computation of Jacobian matrix as required in EKF method.
