Abstract

Modern scientific and technological progress is unthinkable without an intellectual product obtained as a result of innovative activity. The authors often put different meanings into the term ‘innovation’. A number of foreign and domestic authors give different definitions of innovation. One of the main areas of innovation is biotechnological systems for breeding animals using genetic and cell engineering methods. Also, the normal functioning of the agro-industrial complex began to be hindered by the weak infrastructure of markets, the lack of effective systems for their regulation, the presence of interregional trade barriers, and the artificial containment of prices by the administrations of the regions. Due to the underdevelopment of the market infrastructure, normal communication between food producers is still not ensured, the possibility of selling products by domestic agricultural producers at affordable prices is limited. All these are issues of innovative development.
