Abstract
The EEA Agreement reproduces the State aid rules of EU law. The general prohibition of State aid to certain undertakings is deemed to be a major European achievement and State aid control is considered to be the flip side of the “competition coin”. In the EU, the Commissioner for Competition has thus traditionally been responsible for both competition policy and State aid control.
