Abstract
Stasys Paliulis (1902-1996) was a renowned collector and researcher of Lithuanian folklore, a pedagogue, who in 1959 compiled the anthology "Lithuanian Folk Instrumental Music. Wind Instruments". Even today this book has not lost its importance among researchers of musical folklore, performers as well as others interested in Lithuanian instrumental music. This collection is based on the digitised version of the book "Lithuanian Folk Instrumental Music. Wind Instruments", which contains 366 melodies, most of them collected by Paliulis himself in north-eastern Lithuania. The data in the anthology on the musical works, instruments, musicians and other contributors, places of recording, etc. have been entered into the database of the Lithuanian Folklore Archives (LTA), together with the notes by Mr. Paliulis, as well as additional commentary by the compilers of the metadata. If the melody has a text, it can be found not only on the scanned page but also in the description of the particular work. Musical instruments, genres, publications and geographical locations are linked to the databanks of the "Aruodai" Information System, while sound recordings are linked to the LTA Fonoteka Database. Where a photograph of the submitter is stored in the LTA Fototeka Database, it has been linked to the corresponding work, and if the melody was recorded on a phonograph reel or record, authentic sound recordings can be heard.
