Abstract
One of the more difficult jobs on a late shift is trying to remove relatives, friends and significant others from the ward at the end of visiting time. While we are busy helping patients to bed, taking round hot drinks, emptying catheter bags, dashing up and down with a commode intent on going its own sweet way, there are the inevitable stayers-on for whom the bell does not toll.
