Abstract

The shifts of the means of three isolated neutral helium plasma spectral lines emitted from an atmospheric plasma jet ([Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text]) were measured. Using the GBKO Stark broadening theory, first with the quasi-static assumption for the ions and then taking ion dynamic effects into account, formulas were derived and used to determine theoretically predicted shifts to be compared with the measured values under the experimental conditions. The agreement is good, and only small deviations from quasi-static behavior occurred.
