Abstract

Stark modulated absorption of CO2 laser radiation at 1035.462 cm−1 [P(32), 9.6 μ] by methyl fluoride shows that C13H3F is the absorbing species. The approximate absorption coefficient of C13H3F at the laser frequency is 0.25 cm−1 Torr−1. Passive Q switching of the P(32) 9.6-μ laser transition has been achieved using 50% C13 enriched samples and a wide range of CH3F pressures depending on the gain of the laser cavity.
