Abstract
Dear authors, reviewers and readers, Welcome to 2019 in STARCH-STÄRKE. On behalf of the entire editorial office we wish you a happy, healthy and successful new year. Based upon your continued great support STARCH-STÄRKE enjoyed a fantastic year 2018. The journaĺs ISI impact factor is now at 2.173 (compared to 1.84 in the previous year). This is an important achievement and reinforces and mirrors the general positive trend, with respect to the scientific quality of papers we publish as well as regarding a larger readership reached by the journals broader scope (STARCH-STÄRKE welcomes innovative studies on non-starch carbohydrates). In 2018 we published a number of excellent (i) special issues and (ii) review articles. Some examples to be highlighted are: As you might have noticed by now, we are happy to announce that with the beginning of this year, Wiley-VCH stopped charging for figures published in colour (online or print). We have also introduced graphical abstract images and layman's text descriptions in the table of contents for all our articles published online.
