Abstract
The STAR TPC (Time Projection Chamber) Gas System supplies either of two mixtures, P10 (Ar 90%+CH 4 10%) or C 2H 6 50%+He 50%, to the STAR TPC (STAR Project, Brookhaven, USA) at a controlled pressure. This system regulates the pressure and composition of the gas while monitoring gas temperature, O 2 and H 2O. A computer data acquisition system collects and logs the gas system parameters, controls the purification of the recirculating mixture. A separate alarm and interlock system prevents the TPC from operating under unsafe conditions.
