Abstract

ThepresentstudydescribesthefirstcaseofStaphylococcus warneriandShewanella putrefaciensco-infectioninSiberiansturgeons(Acipenser baerii) and hybrid sturgeons(Huso husox Acipenser baerii). OnasturgeonfarmwithrecirculationaquaculturesystemsinNorthBulgaria, anaveragedailymortalityof30 fishhasoccurred. The main pathological findingsconsistedinulcerationson the skin, multiple haemorrhages on the ventral part of the body,yellow-tinted muscles with multiple haemorrhages, hyperemic spleen, yellow ochre coloured liver with frail consistency and surface petechial haemorrhages. Mesentericbloodvesselswerehyperemic, andintestineswerefilledwithbloodyliquidcontent. Pure bacterial cultures ofStaphylococcuswarneriwere isolated from liver and spleen, andShewanellaputrefaciens- from intestines. Histopathologicalexamination was done. Antimicrobial susceptibility pattern of the isolates was determined.
