Abstract

A solution of 137Cs has been standardized by means of 4 πγ[NaI(T1)] integral counting and by 4 π(PC)- γ efficiency tracing and extrapolation with 134Cs as tracer. Both methods giving nearly equal results, a γ-ray-emission probability per decay of 0.8516 ± 0.0020 is deduced for the 661.6-keV transition of 137mBa. The β-ray spectra of both cesium isotopes have been calculated in order to attempt to interpret the efficiency function.
