Abstract

Standard haematological and clinical-chemistry values are presented for 14-month-oldmale and female English beagle dogs. Determinations of haemoglobin concentration, haematocrit, erythrocyte, reticulocyte, total and differential leucocyte and thrombocyte counts, Heinz bodies, coagulation time and erythrocyte sedimentation rate were made on blood from 112–136 dogs. Estimations of serum levels of sodium, potassium, calcium, chloride, inorganic phosphorus, urea nitrogen, uric acid, creatinine and bilirubin (direct and total) and of blood glucose were conducted on 98–110 dogs. Values are expressed as means ± standard deviations together with ranges. Significant sex differences were only seen in the values for eosinophils and serum potassium, the former being higher in males and the latter in females.
