Abstract

The character and importance of small manufacturers in urban economy is discussed. The European practice of erecting standard factories is advanced as a solution to the industrial slum problem. The plants are analyzed as to their function, use, location, construction, etc. This is followed by examples in Europe of standard factories, sectional factories, workshops and multistory factories.
