Abstract

This paper presents overview of feedforward methods and techniques of synchronized space-vector pulsewidth modulation (PWM) for voltage source inverters, based on both standard and non-standard concepts for determination of the pulse patterns. These PWM strategies are perspective for application in ac drive systems with low ratio (frequency ratio) between the switching and fundamental frequencies of inverters, allowing elimination of undesirable subharmonics in spectra of voltage and current. Accent has been done on review of specialized two-stage strategies and schemes of space-vector PWM, providing continuous voltage waveform symmetries of inverters in the entire control region for any operating conditions including fractional frequency ratios. Examples of dissemination of algorithms of synchronized PWM to basic topologies of inverters and drives have been presented.
