Abstract
McManus and Mowry's text is an upto-date (1957-1958) laboratory book of methodology. More inclusive than Gomori, less technical than Pearse, and not too different in scope and size from Lillie, the stated objective is to provide a text for use in routine work and research by pathologists, histochemists, cytologists, and their technical assistants. In point of fact, its coverage and appeal would appear to be limited rather to the first and last of these categories. There is a good deal of the instinctive minutiae that one associates with the experienced technician. Major sections deal with special methods for individual constituents or groups of constituents of cells and tissues and with the study of special cells, tissues, and organs.
