Abstract
This chapter examines the more developed and accepted construction of the YHWH kingship Psalms, extrapolates its particular vision of YHWH's kingship, and situates its expression in the universal vision of the Jerusalem temple. One of the primary influences on the current constructions of YHWH's kingship was Sigmund Mowinckel. The chapter discusses what type of YHWH king those Psalms describe, so that type can be compared with YHWH's kingship in other texts of the Hebrew Bible. The difference between the warrior king and the creator king is apparent when one expects to find in the YHWH kingship Psalms all the elements of divine kingship expressed in the ancient near east (ANE) and particularly the element of YHWH as warrior. The assimilation of multiple expressions of kingship in these texts highlights the absence of a warrior tradition.
