Abstract
The Institute of Hydropower and Renewable Energy Sources at the National Research University Moscow Power Engineering Institute is the only one in the Russian Federation that unites departments implementing educational programs in the areas of electric power engineering, electrical engineering, and power machinery design and construction, with placing focus on power and hydraulic engineering facilities. The need of training high-skilled personnel with broad knowledge in the design and operation of hydroelectric, wind and solar power plants has led to the development of a unique laboratory complex. The article gives a retrospective review of the process through which the Joint Laboratory of the Institute of Hydropower and Renewable Energy Sources was established.
