Abstract

‘What are technical college teachers trying to do?’ ‘What does industry expect from the technical colleges?’ — these were two of the many subjects discussed at a residential conference of the staff of Burton‐on‐Trent Technical College. But the conference (the general conception of which we understand owed something to Dr T. E. A. K. Jackson's article in our June 1959 issue) also drew much value from its informal side — just being with one's colleagues but away from the day‐to‐day pressure of college work.
