Abstract

A suitable model for interfacial electrochemical parameters of biological membranes is the interface electrode/aqueous solution In this investigation the adsorption and interfacial behavior of different individual gangliosides (GM1, GD1a, GT1b) connected with varying temperatures and presence of Ca2+ in the supporting electrdyte (0,1 M KNO3) have been studied at the hanging mercury drop electrode (HMDE). The accapacity current of adsorbed ganglioside monolayers was determined by phase-sensitive ac voltammetry (1). This current reflects the changes in the interface due to the adsorption, desorption, rearrangement and association (condensing) of gangliosides.
