Abstract
We obtain stable configurations of many vortices in superfluid helium in a rotating spherical vessel and a drop using the Onsager-Feynman model and the method of free energy minimization, and compare the equilibrium configurations of vortices in a rotating spherical vessel with known ones in a rotating cylindrical vessel. As a result of the comparison, the critical angular velocity of the rotating spherical vessel is shown to be larger than that of the rotating cylindrical vessel for the same vortex numbers in the stable vortex configuration.
