Abstract

An analysis is made of two-dimensional stable resonators formed by corrugated focusing gratings on the surface of a planar optical waveguide. A determination is reported of the optimal profiles of such gratings (i.e., of the variation of the period and radius of curvature of the grooves) which ensure highly efficient Bragg reflection of the natural surface waves formed in a diffraction resonator.
