Abstract

Based on the well known Nyquist stability criterion, the stabilization of second-order unstable time-delay processes by PID controllers is investigated. Explicit stabilizability results in terms of the upper limit of time-delay size is established. The analysis not only provides both theoretical understanding on such stabilization issue, but also meaningful for the teaching of Nyquist stability criterion in control eduction.
