Abstract
The dumping of waste materials is a huge concern nowadays owing to restricted availability of land. The unplanned dumping of waste materials pollutes the environment, thereby causing harmful diseases. This paper is an attempt to utilize two industrial wastes, viz. waste foundry sand and molasses in stabilization of poor soils. Both the materials have been added in varying amount to the clayey soil alone and in combination to each other, and various geotechnical characteristics such as consistency limits, compaction characteristics and unconfined compressive strength have been evaluated. Based on test results, it is observed that the addition of both the wastes improved the geotechnical properties of clayey soil, thus making its use for various civil engineering applications.
