Abstract

The article considers the possibility of increasing stability of DC high-current glow discharge in the diffusion bonding processes at discharge currents 1 … 30 A and the gas pressure 1.33 … 13.3 kPa by replacing the monolithic anode with a multi-section one in the running (rotating) electric field. It is shown that the at constant discharge current the using of the 5-section anode assembly with a rotating electric field increases the region of a glow discharge stable existence by 1.5 … 1.7 times and the energy density in the heating spot in 2.6 … 2.9 times in comparison with a similar electrode system with the stationary electric field.
