Abstract

Let X be a Banach space. Recall that a unit vector x in X is said to be an extreme point if for any y, z e B(X), x = 1/2(y+z) implies x = y = z. A unit vector x in X is said to be a smooth point of X if there is a unique x* e S(X*) such that (x*, x) = 1.
