Abstract

175 patients with cervical spine and spinal cord injuries were admitted to the Spinal Injuries Unit, Austin Hospital, in the five-year period from the 1 July 1968, to the 30 June 1973. Only 4-2 per cent of the patients required delayed spinal fusion for instability after a conservative treatment regime.
