Abstract

In measurements of the electrical parameters of solar cells and batteries, the radiation flux density is determined by means of selective radiometers. In these radiometers, the radiation detector is the same phototransducer (PT) of which the battery is composed. An important property of this PT is the stability of its sensitivity. To determine sensitivity stability was measured only after the radiometers had been fully installed in their cases. Such measurements were made regularly at least twice a year, starting in 1967. The stability was checked using solar simulators with strictly controlled radiation parameters: spectrum, flux uniformity, and reproducibility of intensity during measurements. The results of this study show that semiconductor phototransducers, with proper protection from the external medium, can be used as instrument transducers of optical radiation.
