Abstract
In this paper we prove the stability of discretizations in time of holomorphic semigroups in Banach spaces by means of a wide class of rational multistep methods. Variable time step-sizes are also considered for which a weak stability estimate is proved. Our results are applicable to the analysis of parabolic problems in the maximum norm.
