Abstract
This paper investigates hydrodynamic instability of the Taylor-Vortex type in induced developing natural convection flows in vertical concentric annuli with two rotating boundaries. The induced flow is created by heating one of the annulus boundaries either isothermally or at a constant heat flux while the other annulus boundary is kept adiabatic. The hydrodynamic instability is detected by means of a local stability parameter. This local stability parameter could predict the stabilizing effect of rotating the outer cylinder. The paper gives also more insight into the features of the local stability parameter.
