Abstract

Film fluid flows, driven down an inclined plane by gravity is encountered in heat exchangers and cooling towers. These flows can undergo evaporation (condensation), which might affect their stability and in turn affect the heat transfers. This paper presents an investigation of the influence of evaporation (condensation) on the stability of the film down an inclined plane. Using energy integral method, to reduce the governing equations of the problem into two-equation model, we showed that evaporation (condensation) destabilizes (stabilizes) the film fluid flow.
