Abstract

The behavior of an arch model which exhibits inelastic material behavior and pre-buckling deformations is investigated. A bilinear stress-strain relationship is assumed. Both symmetric and asymmetric loading conditions are considered, and attention is focused on critical loads for snap-through instability. With the use of arbitrary ratios of independent loads, interaction curves are determined. It is seen that the magnitude of the yield force has a significant effect on the form of these curves.
