Abstract

The inviscid stability of the laminar mixing of an infinitely conducting compressible fluid in the presence of an aligned magnetic field is investigated with respect to two‐dimensional wavy disturbances. It is found that an increase in the Mach number increases the wave speed of a neutrally stable disturbance for all values of the magnetic field. With increasing Mach numbers the wavelength of a neutral disturbance increases for weak magnetic fields while it decreases for strong magnetic fields. The inviscid flow is unstable.
