Abstract
The equations of the nonlinear oscillations of a collisionless ellipsoid with homogeneous density are obtained. The stability of a model of an ellipsoidal star system with oblique rotation with respect to ellipsoid-ellipsoid perturbation is investigated. The region of stability has been determined by finding the characteristic frequencies of small oscillations, the equations for these being obtained by linearizing the equations of the nonlinear oscillations.
