Abstract

This paper studies the orbital stability and instability of solitary wave solutions of the generalized symmetric regularized-long-wave equations. It is show that a traveling wave may be stable or unstable depending on the nonlinearity and the range of the wave's speed of propagation. Sharp conditions of that effect are given.
