Abstract

The stability and the evolution of the minor bodies of the solar system are discussed. The comets have a very important role in the evolution of the other minor bodies, i.e., meteor streams, asteroids of group 1 (orbits beyond Saturn) and group 3 (earth crossing orbits). The evolution of short period comets is fairly rapid in comparison with the duration of the main stage of the evolution of the solar system. The evolution of the orbits of the asteroids situated between Mars and Jupiter, seems to be quite different from the other asteroids having the duration of evolution comparable with the planets for a majority of them.
