Abstract

This paper analyzes the influence of Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG), connected to a weak network, on the stable operation of DFIG itself and weak network when stator winding inter-turn short circuit (SWITSC) occurs. The fluctuation of electromagnetic torque in DFIG and voltage at the point of common coupling (PCC) in weak network will be obtained by analysing the simulation results and the mathematical model of DFIG. Then the power system stabilizer (PSS) and the static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) are used to reduce the fluctuation of the electromagnetic torque and the voltage at PCC. A series of simulation results verify the correctness of the measures adopted in this paper.
