Abstract

A stability analysis of the CMFD, partial-current CMFD (pCMFD), and Linear Prolongation CMFD (lpCMFD) acceleration schemes is performed in conjunction with moment-based, spatially-linear discretizations applied to the SN transport equation. The evaluation of the spectral radius is performed over a range of scattering ratios, optical thicknesses, and the number of fine-cells per coarse-mesh. Numerical results are presented which verify the analysis and implementation. The theoretical spectral radius from the stability analysis is verified by comparisons to estimated values from the numerical solution of a one-dimensional transport problem. Results indicate very similar stability behavior between the CMFD, pCMFD, and lpCMFD-accelerated LD and LC spatial discretization schemes.
