Abstract
The direct addition of sulfur or selenium to 2-nitrophenyl selenide ions (ArSe-) in N,N-dimethylacetamide leads to the formation of ArSeS- or ArSe2- species, which have been characterized by UV-vis spectrophotometry coupled with volammetry. The nucleophilic substitution of benzyl bromide by ArSeS- ions yields selenenyl sulfide ArSeSCH2Ph as the major product.
