Abstract

This paper provides an introduction to the Simulation Reference Markup Language (SRML) (SRML 2002) through a case study in which a simple process modeling and simulation representation is developed. In this context, self-describing refers to a simulation representation that includes not only a model's data, but also includes the behavioral semantics of the simulation objects, thereby enabling the execution of those models within a general-purpose simulation engine.
