Abstract

We have performed μSR experiments on a Haldane gap material [Ni(C 2H 8N 2) 2NO 2Cl 4o 4] from room temperature down to 4.2 K in magnetic fields up to 12.5 T. It has been found that the temperature dependence of the relaxation rate is different from that obtained by NMR because of the difference of sites and the charactristic observation time ranges between NMR and μSR. The very fast relaxation time has been observed at high filed and it may be ascribed to a strong internal field which comes fromthe superhyperfine interaction due to a strong coupling of muon (No 2) - radical between Ni 2+ ions in a chain.
