Abstract
This paper presents a diagnosis study to detect the Broken Rotor Bars (BRBs) and the stator inter-turn short circuit faults of three-phase Squirrel Cage Induction Motor (SCIM). Condition monitoring of induction motors has attracted increasing attention during the last decade, therefore, the early detection and proper faults diagnosis reduce the maintenance cost and also increase production effectiveness. In order to extract the fault frequencies that related to induction motor faults, firstly, Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) technique is applied on the stator phase current, secondly, by applying the same technique (FFT) on the stator current envelope (Hilbert modulus) which measured by Hilbert transform. Consequently, it is possible to observe the fault frequencies produced by each kind of fault. In Matlab/Simulink, simulation results obtained on three-phase SCIM are discussed.
