Abstract

A narrow synthetic radar beam may be generated from square-law detected radar pulses provided the return pulse is incoherent. The processing would provide the same range resolution as a linear synthetic aperture system, but would reduce the azimuth resolution by the ratio of the transmitted pulse length to the carrier wavelength.
