Squamous-cell carcinoma of the anus arising in a giant condyloma acuminatum: report of a case.

Abstract

Giant condyloma acuminatum (Buschke-Loewenstein tumor) is distinguished from condyloma acuminatum by its invasive nature and the formation of multiple fistulous tracts. The Buschke-Loewenstein tumor usually occurs on the penis, but four patients with anorectal giant condylomas have been reported in medical literature. This is a report of a patient in whom a squamous-cell carcinoma developed within a perianal giant condyloma; he received satisfactory palliative treatment by abdominoperineal resection and subsequent local treatment.
