Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to explore the EFL learners’ overall perspectives toward the SQ3R-based Reading Instruction. The study was conducted at English Reading class at one of the local universities in South Korea. A total of 47 English-major students participated in the study throughout a semester. In order to collect the data, the researcher applied survey, open-ended questionnaire, interview, and students’ pre and post reading comprehension scores. The followings were elicited from the learners. First, the students improved their reading comprehension score after receiving SQ3R-based instruction. Regarding use of their strategies, significant differences were reported in some reading strategies including general reading strategy and purpose-based reading strategy.
